My Dad has taught me a lot over the past 38 years! The biggest ones I have learned in the last 10. Like, when life throws you obstacles keep trucking. I would ask him after radiation and cancer treatments how he was, knowing he was tired, he would say, "Good". I'd say, "Really?" He'd say, " yeah, as good as it gets".I'd say, "why don't you go home and hit the recliner?" He would say, "I've got gather this or plant that or bushhogg this, etc". He worked through it all! He has endured so much: end stage liver disease, a liver transplant, hernia surgery, wound after wound that wouldn't heal, Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma with endless treatments, and now a farm accident that has taken him home to be with the Lord! Dad passed away last night due to multiple system failure from injuries sustained when he fell from his combine. He went out with his boots on!! He never gave up! Something only a farmer or any true working man would understand! Farming is our life! It is our God honoring passion to wake up every morning and work much later than most, to provide food for our neighbors! We get the opportunity to worship God in a way and depend on Him on a level that only He can understand! We stomp our feet at the dust and mutter our prayers for the dry earth to be quenched. We know that God will send the rain a day before it's too late! We cry when the rains finally come and dance and praise Him! God has been and is always with us and over the past 2 weeks we have felt His presence and your prayers! God is so good! I will miss Daddy dearly! He was definitely a man of few words, that loved his family, community, and his dogs too! He would give anybody the shirt off his back, without question! We will post when arrangements have been made. God loves you all! ...

We are going to close early this year. There will not be any hayrides on Saturdays or field trips in October. Unfortunately, on September 21st Dad had a farm accident. He was treated at Catawba Valley Med Center on Thursday thru Saturday. Then, we had him air lifted to Carolinas Medical Center's Trauma ICU in Charlotte. He has been here since last Saturday (9/23). He is making baby steps each day. The doctors here are focused on getting his internal organs stable enough to move him out of the ICU and into the main hospital. His rehabilitation will be long and difficult. His body is broken and tired. Prayers are appreciated! We will take the fall/winter off to focus on family. I will post on our FB page, if we decide to do a Friday Mobile Market at Evans Drug; Wednesdays are definitely finished. Hope to see you all in 2018 for strawberries and our seasonal veggies! Have a blessed day! ...
